All events will be held rain or shine. Notice will be sent if cancellation
for other reasons is necessary.
Who can attend?
We do not actually limit attendance to CSA members, but these events
are not open to the public at large. There are numerous
"honorary" CSA members (and we think you know who you are).
If you are not sure if you are included in the invitation, ask us! It
is likely that we'll just extend the invitation to you. We do appreciate
RSVPs. Families with children are most welcome.
Iris Fest
| 2010 Iris Fest |
May 31 (Monday) |
4 pm - ?? |
The spring Iris Festival occurs every year on Memorial Day, normally
peak bloom time of the iris on the farm. The farm touts many different
varieties of iris, even after the devastation from a late freeze in 2007.
The Iris Fest begins at 4pm and runs until the bonfire dwindles or midnight,
whichever comes first.
This gathering is a potluck style food event. Bring something to grill
and/or something to pass (salads, snacks, etc). We usually have lemonade,
iced tea and water available for beverages. We respectfully request that
you limit alcaholic beverages.
If you have a lawn game that you wish to share, bring it along. We typically
set out games such as bocci ball and blongo. There is also sidewalk chalk
for the artists and frisbees for the athletic. We also encourage other,
more sedentary games if people show interest. Tours of our gardens (guided
or not) will be provided for the interested. Usually, we will have baby
turkeys and chickens to view. Weather permitting, we will start a bonfire
before dark and there will be s'mores. Can't have a bonfire without those!
Summer Harvest
| 2009 Summer Harvest |
August 28 (Saturday) |
4 pm - ?? |
Despite the picture - our Summer Fest is normally too warm for snow -
so don't worry too much.
Our mid-summer festival gives everyone a chance to see what the gardens
look like when they are bursting at the seems with produce. The long summer
days give us plenty of light to view gardens, feed turkeys and play games.
This gathering is a potluck style food event. Bring something to grill
and/or something to pass (salads, snacks, etc). We usually have lemonade,
iced tea and water available for beverages. We respectfully request that
you limit alcaholic beverages. By this time in the season, we will have
zucchini and summer squash. We expect to be able to grill some of these
for you to try!
Highlights of our summer festival may include any or all of the following:
tomato and pepper tasting, live musician, bonfire, ice cream making, and
whatever else we think of between now and then. If we can get a volunteer
to work out the details, it has been suggested that we show a movie on
the side of the barn.
Genuine Faux Farm
Fall Festival and Fetid Fruit Fling (GF7)
| 2010 Fall Bonfire and Tomato Launch |
October 3 (Sunday) |
3 pm - 10 pm |
Our fall gathering is usually electric with anticipation for the annual
tomato launch. If you don't know what the launch is, you're just going
to have to attend and find out. This gathering starts earlier and ends
earlier out of respect for the weather.
This gathering is a potluck style food event. Bring something to grill
and/or something to pass (salads, snacks, etc). We usually have lemonade,
iced tea and water available for beverages. We respectfully request that
you limit alcaholic beverages. We will supplement the feast with some
of our fall excess.
Once again, games will make an appearance, as does good food and other
spontaneous good things. Weather permitting, we will start a bonfire before
dark and there will be s'mores. Can't have a bonfire without those!
